7 day Uganda Gorillas, Primates & Wildlife Safari

Tour overview:

This safari begins and finishesin Kampala or Entebbe Airport. Basing on your time of arrival, you will rest at your lodge or you may choose to take a city tour. The following day, you will drive to the leading tourist destination in Uganda – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Besides the breathtaking scenery, different types of birds plus monkeys, you will be amazed at the sight of the huge mountain gorillas. You will also visit Queen Elizabeth National Park – which is the most bio-diversity wildlife sanctuary home to the tree climbing lions, buffaloes, hippos, elephants and leopards, plus some small animals and uncommon bird species. Drive on to Kibale forest  National Park renowned to have the highest number and diversity of primates including chimpanzees which are man’s closest relative

Day 1: Travel to Bwindi
Day 2: Bwindi – Gorilla Tracking.

Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1: Travel to Bwindi
Following breakfast you will set off to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park .have a stopover at the craft village found at theUganda equatorto do some shopping, and then proceed to Mbararawhere you will have lunch and later drive through the breathtaking evergreen hilly country that is known as the “Little Switzerland of Uganda”. ReachBwindi in the late evening.

DAY 3: Bwindi – Gorilla Tracking
You will set out at 8:00 am with a packed lunch and enough drinking water, and you are advised to wear strong comfortable boots plus a light rain-jacket since the weather in Bwindi Impenetrable forest is highly unpredictable. You will be availed with Walking sticks by the park rangers. Also visitors are allowed to spend only one hour with the gorillas for the purpose of conservation. The ranger guide will brief you on how to conduct yourself while in the presence of the gentle giants. The highlight of today will be setting eyes on the giant silverback the head of the gorilla family. In the evening, there will be an optional visit to the community during which you will be entertained by the locals.

DAY 4: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After yourbreakfast, you will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is filled with a great diversity of wildlife and known to some people as a birder’s paradise! Go through the renownedIshashaarea, in expectation of seeing the tree climbing lions; have your cameras nearby.

DAY 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park, Wildlife Viewing, Launch Cruise

After a delicious breakfast, you will go for a game drive in the morning in the Kasenyi area. In this area you will see various animals including Lions, hyenas, Buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, Leopard and Elephants,  as well as the elusive forest hog. Head back to the lodge where you will have lunch and later an exciting Launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel on which you will be able to see several animals like hippos, crocodiles and some buffaloes along the water edge drinking water, plus various species of birds. This cruise is a great opportunity to take photos since it will take you through perhaps the highest number of hippos. The large number of birds here is very impressive and astonishing with more than 550 bird species, making it the perfect holiday destination for bird watchers as well.

DAY 6: Travel to Kibale National Park
Following your breakfast, you may decide to visit theKyambura Wildlife Reserve traversing through the grassland area. Drive by the amazing gorge of dense tropical rainforest which is 100m deep. ExploretheKyambura River Gorge for an additional unique experience tracking the chimpanzees. It’s a rewarding experience not just with sights of chimpanzees, but with views of the beautiful river valley which houses a great profusion of birds plus butterfly, then proceed to Kibale National Park, a renowned home of several Primates.

DAY 7: Kibale Chimp Trekking/ Primates, Nature Walk

Following breakfast, you will transfer drive to Kibale Forest National Park, to view primates. The park is known for its highest number of different primate species in the whole of Africa. This activity begins at 8.00 am, and may take 2 to 3 hours of the day as you search for chimps plus other monkeys such as phoestes, grey cheeked Mangabeys, Red-Colobuses, Red-tailed and the Blue tailed swinging in the impenetrable forest. You will as well spot various bird species, butterflies as well as small insects. The park ranger will offer you detailed explanations about the primates, as well as the other plants and animals here, which will make this walk very enjoyable and also informative. After lunch, you will explore the Bigodi wetland an eco-tourism site where you will see a profusion of wildlife particularly that associated with water; this is an eco-tourism site.

Day 8: Visit the Crater Lakes Region and Return to Kampala
Right after breakfast you will have an adventure tour in this area, which has several crater lakes, and then drive back to the capital Kampala having lunch along the way.
