Trip Overview
This trip will give you an opportunity to experience the wilderness in the middle of the city. You will be able to visit some of the remarkable wildlife places in Nairobi, enjoy game viewing in the park, bird watching in some of the bird paradise places in the park, and also enjoy walk safaris in Karura Forest. The trip will start and end in Nairobi.
Nairobi National Park
The park lies in the Southern part of the Country’s capital city. It was the first park to be established in the country covering at least 117sqkm. The park is a stop area for visitors in Nairobi. It is small compared to other parks in the country, but it has an original landscape of Kenya, composed of high altitude, savannah with acacia trees, and vegetation along the banks of River Embakasi, plains, steep gorges, and forests. The park was allocated to protect wildlife in the area, birds, and vegetation after a long period of hunting. Await to set your eyes on bushbucks, leopard, lions, giraffes, and the black endangered Rhinos. The park is commonly known to be a home of endangered creatures

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Nairobi National Park
Our guide will just be in time to pick you from your place of accommodation after breakfast or, he will pick you from Jomo Kenyatta Airport. He will warmly welcome and brief you about your trip. He will gladly transfer you to Nairobi National park after a tour in the remarkable places in Nairobi. He will provide you with information about the places you will visit. Feel free to ask any questions about what you will see.
Your first stop will be at the giraffe center. This is located along Langata road. The center was established to create a home for the endangered Rothschild giraffe. At this center, you will meet wildlife up close and also participate in feeding them. Imagine feeding a giraffe on a raised ground. The activity is so exciting that you will have ample time with them, while taking photos. You will have the chance to feel the skin of a giraffe. The center also provides free environmental education to visitors, all in the effort of conserving the endangered species.
From the center, you will head on to visit David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust-a home for orphaned elephants and rhinos. The place was established in 1977 to provide a home to wildlife especially baby elephants and rhinos due to activities of poaching and habitant loss. The orphans are given utmost care until they can survive on their own in the wilderness. The activities at this home have been successful and over 150 elephants have recovered and been taken back to Tsavo East National park. You will appreciate their efforts and be amused at the sight of baby elephants and rhinos being bottle fed. You will also get to know in detail, their projects of rescuing and rehabilitation of orphaned elephants and the fostering project. You will not only see more wildlife, but also birds like crested cranes, among others which visit the park.
You will have a moment to enjoy lunch, relax and also prepare for a visit to the museum. After lunch you will visit Nairobi National Museum, which will give you an access to the history of Kenya and the several tribes in Kenya. You will get to know the colonial era in the country, you will have a good reflection of what happened during that time. It has fossils of birds, animals that were got from the sea, it has a geology galley, among other things. You will take your time exploring their art crafts, and educational pieces it possesses. If time allows, you may also pay to access the snake farm. It lies close to the National Museum. You will get to see most of the reptiles found in East Africa.
Another optional activity s Karen Blixen Museum. It’s a colonial house that lies below Ngongo Hills, and was a home for Karen Blexin and her husband, who owned a coffee farm in the area, after their divorce, Karen falls in love with an English man. The home is famous for the Oscar awarding movie ‘Out of Africa’ that has lines like: ‘I had a farm in Africa on the foot of Ngong Hills’, the house is now a tourist attraction with everything it holds. You will enjoy the gardens close by, Ngongo Hills, and the feeling of being in colonial times of 1917.
The park is located in Nairobi, just 7km form the city center. It’s the only adventurous ground in that lies in the city. You will use Langata road to the park. Upon arrival in the park, you will check-in in your place of accommodation, relax, and enjoy dinner and overnight rest.

Day 2: Full day in park (game drives, bird watching and guided safari)
Following your breakfast, with your lunch, you will embark on a guided game drive in the park. On this you will roam the park in search for wildlife which won’t be hard to find. You will be able to see location of these enclosed animals at a long close range since the landscape and vegetation favor you. You will come to close range with the likes of: Coke’s Hartebeest, wildebeests, antelopes, elands, impalas, African leopard, lions, baboons, Masai Giraffes, hippos, water buck, eastern black rhinos, cheetahs, elephants, cape buffalos, and Grant’s zebras. You will have an opportunity to take pictures
Along this game drive and within the park, await to see a number of bird species. The park has over 400 species of birds. Some have a home and others are migrants for other continents. Guides will guide you when and where to best watch these creatures from. These include: red collared widowbird, sunbirds, and crowned eagle, ostriches, vultures, Kori Buzzards, helmeted guinea, Walberg’s honey birds, among others. Await to see more on your walk safari with the help of binoculars.
The guide will get a suitable place where you can enjoy your lunch. You will relax and then head out for a nature walk in the park. You will head towards River Embakasi. There various animals that concentrate on this river for water and birds too which search for feeds. You will have an amazing time as you the beautiful scenery, cool environment, and also clear views of wildlife and birds. You will then return to your place of accommodation to freshen up, relax and await for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 3: Morning game drive and departure
After your delicious breakfast, you will head on for a morning game drive, to see wildlife for the last time. You will set your eyes again on the cheetah, lions, leopards, warthogs, among others. You will return to your place of accommodation to check-out. Your guide will pick you and return you to the airport or to your place of accommodation in Nairobi.
You will visit Karura Forest for a guided nature walk. It lies in the city, you may actually think you aren’t when you check out its scenic views. There so many tree species, there waterfalls, and there clear penetrable trails that will lead you to various parts of the forest, you will see monkeys, birds, you can go with your lunch and enjoy a picnic in this forest. Enjoy the sights and sounds.
End of your 3 Days Nairobi National Park Safari
