Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival, pick up, and transfer to Masai Mara Game reserve.

Upon your arrival in Nairobi, our guide will warmly welcome you, and pick you from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, (we suggest you arrive in the morning) he will brief you about your trip, where you will go, what to expect and also he will be answering your questions and will be with you until the end of the trip.

You will have lunch in one of the best restaurants in Nairobi City. You will then be driven to Wilson Airport for a domestic flight to Maasai Mara Game Reserve, which will take at most one hour or 45mins to the park. Enjoy the scenic views on your way to the park.

The park is located in Kenya’s Rift Valley Province in Narok Sub County. It’s commonly known as Mara by the indigenous Masai People. It is one of the biggest parks in the country established in 1961 covering over 1510sqkm. The park is famous for the large numbers of wildlife species and birds, great savannah, rivers, valleys and unique tree species. Masai Mara is part of the Great Mara Ecosystem. Masai Mara Park and Serengeti National park of Kenya have a lot in common. A major one being the great migration that attracts a lot of people in the park to view these amazing animals.

On reaching the park, your will check in your accommodation place before head on the game drive in the park.

With no waste of time you will start your game drive. There various animals in the park, the big five and predators will be seen. This time concentrating around the Mara River that has a large concentration of animals, that is lions, leopards, wild beasts, elephants, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, Thomson’s gazelles, cape buffalos, rhinoceros, bat eared foxes, hippos, topi, Grant’s gazelles, impalas, duiker, among others, and not forgetting the different species of birds such long crested eagles, vultures, hornbills, secretary birds, lilac breasted roller, ostriches, African Pygmy falcons, Jackson’s bustards, Marabou storks, guinea fowls, Pel’s fishing owls, and black bellied Hartlaubs bustards that will be in your face. At the shores of the River or any other picnic ground, you will enjoy your lunch in the park.

There’s an air balloon Safari which you might choose to enjoy at a supplementary fee. You will have wonderful views of wildlife, vegetation, trees from above and clear images of the park can be got.

The game drive will be for the rest of the day, the guide will be taking you to different corners of the park as you will enjoying what you will see. Wildlife in the park isn’t hard to see, whichever side you take, await abundant wildlife. Enjoy the fierce and humble animals as you take videos and photos of them especially during the great migration. At the end of the game drive, you will be returned to your place of accommodation and you will relax with amazing memories of all that you have seen in the park.

Day 2: Game drive and cultural visit to Masai Communities

After your breakfast, with your packed lunch (to avoid returning for lunch) you will head on to a morning drive in the park, to find animals before they head on search for food. You will have more of what you saw yesterday. Guides know exactly what to do and from where you will park, animals will be clearly see. You will also enjoy birds in the area, so look out for them. When lunch time clocks, he will drive you to a very nice spot that is in great view of the surroundings. After your lunch, you will relax while taking and walk safari and then embark on a game drive again.

An adventure without walks is incomplete. Take time and also join in the walk safaris and tour the area. Visit the bushes, swamps, valleys, and also watch out for wildlife and birds on your way. Walk along river banks, and visit research center, you will appreciate creation more on this tour.

Towards the end of this round, you will be driven to Masai Community- the nomadic pastoralists. Maasai people are the natives of the Maasai Mara lands. They are a tribe that has been internationally recognized as one that has retained their tradition amidst world civilization. They can be easily identified with great height, covering themselves with squared colorful shukas, rungu sticks, and ornate beadworks that they wear on heads and around their necks. Their society is patriarchal. Women are responsible for construction of their homesteads, commonly known as Manyattas. They are grass thatched huts, made of sticks, mud, and dung. Men are responsible for constructing engang, of thorn branches that is supposed to keep livestock safe with in the compound. Their life is centered on cows, for everything. That is wealth, food and marriage.

You will be amazed by the fine constructed Manyattas constructed by women, you will see their simple way of life, you will be able to interact with them and if time allows, you may also participate in beading. You may get a souvenir from them. Yow ill also be entertained by their famous traditional dance. By the time you leave you may have learnt the dance. A visit to Maasai Land is worthwhile. It will give you clear confirmations of what you have either read or seen in movies when it comes to Maasai people.

After your visit, you will be driven back to your place of accommodation for dinner and rest. Enjoy the plains and views in the park.

Day 3: Morning game drive and departure

Oh it’s too bad this is your last day of your trip. You will have to make the best of every moment in the park. On this day, you will head on an early game drive before sunrise. This time is so wonderful. Some animals will be found in their camping places, predators will be found fatigued, after their previous hustle for prey. You will enjoy expressions of cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, waterbucks, lions, warthogs, wildebeests, among others in the morning hours. To be able to see almost all wildlife in the park, one needs to take game drives and different times of day. You might see more animals this time. This game drive can take at least 2 hours but the time is relative.

After your game drive, you will be returned to the accommodation place to enjoy a delicious breakfast. After your breakfast, you can take some time to enjoy where you stay, take pictures of the surroundings, and enjoy the cool environment. Our guide will drive you to Wilson Airport where you will take a domestic flight to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your return flight back home.
