The 3 day adventure in to Semliki Wildlife Reserve includes bird watching; game drives as well as chimpanzee trekking. This wildlife reserve is located in the secluded Semliki Valley; the park shelters an extension of the huge Ituri rainforest in Congo. It is habitat to various bird species particularly 40 species endemic to the Congo which cannot be seen in other parts of the country.
The Sempaya Hot Springs, which was named after a river that forms the border of Uganda and Congo, are as well found inside this park. This forested area is habitat to several mammals, including the huge elephants, noisy chimps plus the more prevalent De Brazza’s monkey chimpanzee trips. Lake Albert plus the northern lower slope of the Rwenzoris are comprised of a verdant variety of grasslands, savanna, forests plus wetlands, that support more than 350 bird species documented here such as the Shoebill. These 2 isolated wildlife areas are of great importance to bird lovers, and for that reason are leading destinations for ornithologists traveling from across the world.

Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala – Semliki Wildlife Reserve
Following breakfast, the safari guide will pick you from your hotel and the drive to the amazing Semliki Wildlife Reserve along a very scenic route; this drive will take about 6 or 7 hours taking you down the eastern part of Lake Albert. Semliki reserve is located in the basin of the Western-arm of the Rift Valley. This park is renowned for its thrilling night game drives which offer you a great opportunity to see a number of nocturnal animals like the hyenas, white tailed mongoose, cats, slender mongoose, leopards, standard & pennant winged nightjars among others. Dine and overnight rest
Day 2: Semliki Wildlife Reserve
You will have breakfast before going into the verdant rainforest to start Chimp tracking. These are normally tracked in the early morning or in the evening simple because chimpanzees normally hide during the day. You will as well enjoy some bird watching while in the forest. You will see several birds including the chestnut owlet, spotted-breasted ibis, Congo serpent eagle, black-throated coucal, chestnut-flanked goshawk, black-wattled hornbill, red-thighed sparrow hawk, red-rumped tinker bird, long-tailed hawk, Zenker’s honey guide, Nkulengu rail, Bates’s nightjar and Hartlaub’s duck. Head back to your lodge to rest, dine and spend the night.
Day 3: Semliki Wildlife Reserve – Kampala
Today being the final day of your trip, you will have a game drive in the morning on which you will have a great chance to explore this wonderful wildlife reserve. At the end of the game drive you will head back to the lodge for a late breakfast and then begin the drive back to the capital Kampala where you will arrive in the late afternoon.
