Situated in Eastern Uganda along the border with Kenya border, Mountain Elgon (also called Masaba) is among the extinct Volcano and has the widest surface area on the planet (50 X 80 km) and the Wagai at 4321m ASL is its peak.
The Bagisu together with the Sabiny are the native inhabitants of this area and they are renowned for their circumcision practice. From June to August and then from December up to March are the most ideal times to actually visit this park because it is a dry season.
The park has a varied number of attractions including the beautiful Sipi falls, montane forests, spectacular flower species, bamboo, wild cats, giant Lobelia, craters, gorges, birds, bushbucks, hyenas, antelopes, rock hyrax as well as caves.

Day 1: Kampala to Mbale
Drive to eastern Uganda just after your breakfast. Journey through the verdant Mabira forest, to Jinja and through to Iganga. Stop at Mbale resort for lunch. drive on to Kapchorwa where you will see the beautiful Sipi falls. Dinner and spend the night at Crow’s Nest, or Sipi River Lodge, or Lacam Lodge
Day 2: Explore Mt Elgon
You will set out for the hike up the mountain. After breakfast, you will go to the trailhead at Kapkwata where you will be briefed and meet your ranger guide. During the hike, you will encounter a a number of primates plus other wildlife. In the afternoon you will take a brief hike to the stunning Sipi falls. Also you may climb rocks and also go abseiling. Have dine and spend the night at Crow’s Nest, or Sipi River Lodge, or Lacam Lodge.
Day 3: to Jinja then Kampala
Depart from Kapchorwa right after breakfast and drive through Mbale, Iganga and Jinja. Stop in Jinja for lunch and also to visit renowned source of the Nile. You may as well opt to go white water rafting at the Bujagali falls or choose bungee jumping. You will drive back to the capital Kampala and arrive late in the evening.
