10 Days Rwanda Grand Adventure Safari

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be received by our staff member who will brief you about this Safari within Rwanda. You will then be driven to your hotel where you will dine and spend the night at Hotel Des Milles Collins, or Hotel Chezlando, or Hotel Okapi, or Kigali Serena Hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park
Following breakfast, you will be driven to Akagera National Park where you will have your lunch. In the afternoon you will go for a thrilling boat ride on the beautiful Lake Ihema to look for the various animals for example Hippos, giant crocodiles and a profusion of water birds like the African fish eagle, papyrus Gonolek and the shoebill stork. Dine and overnight rest at Dereva Hotel or Akagera Game Lodge or Umbrella Pine
Day 3: Game drive and transfer to Kigali
Following an early breakfast, you will go for a game drive to look for the early risers plus large predators including Lions and Hyenas plus others such as bushbuck, zebra, Elephants, giraffes, Buffaloes, cape elands, impalas, oribi and antelopes. Return for lunch at the Lodge and then in the afternoon, drive back to Kigali where you will dine and spend the night at Hotel Des Milles Collins, or Hotel Chezlando, or Hotel Okapi, or Kigali Serena Hotel.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Following breakfast, you will drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Along the way to the Park, you will visit a number of historical plus cultural sites within Butare plus Nyanza. Stop by the National Museum as well as the National University found in Butare. You will as well visit the Old King’s Palace (also known as Old Mwami’s palace) found in Nyanza to have a cultural experience. Take lunch in the town of Butare and continue with the journey to Nyanza where you will arrive in the evening. Dine and overnight rest at Gisakura guest House or Nyungwe Forest Lodge

Day 5: Chimpanzee trek in Nyungwe
Right after breakfast, go to track chimpanzees in the verdant rain forest. You’ll first go to the Park headquarters where you will be briefed by the Park rangers and then eventually begin your trek in the Forest as you look for the chimpanzees. During the trek you will have the chance to see various primates such as the Rwenzori colobus, Silver monkey, Chimpanzees, the Grey cheeked Mangabey, L’hoests monkey and the Owl faced monkey. Head back to the lodge where you will rest and have your meals. Overnight rest at Nyungwe Forest Lodge or ORTPN Gisakura guest house

Day 6: Transfer to Kibuye
In the morning you will have breakfast, before departing from Nyungwe National Park to Kibuye town on the Eastern Shores of thebeautiful Lake Kivu. On arrival at Kibuye, you will enjoy Lunch and later in the afternoon, take a canoe ride to discover the Island of ‘Napoleon’s Hat’ and as well transfer to Gisenyi town using a boat. On this boat ride you will get a chance to enjoy the breathtaking views Congo’s Nyiragongo Volcano. Dine and overnight rest at Kivu Serena Hotel, or Bethanie Hotel, or Kibuye Guest House or even Palm Hotel

Day 7: Transfer to Ruhengeri
Today you will drive to Ruhengeri town which is close to Volcanoes National Park. On arrival, you will have a brief tour around this town and also visit the vibrant local markets. Eventually you will head to your lodge for dinner and the overnight. Options are: Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, Kinigi Guest House or Mountain Gorilla View Lodge

Day 8: Gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park
You will head to the Park headquarters where you will be allocated to a Gorilla group. There you will be shortly briefed about the mountain Gorilla tracking rules. After this the guide and ranger will accompany you as you search the forest for these giant Apes. Slowly you will search the Volcano Virunga Hills and the verdant Valley for the gorillas and this activity is in some way tiring but on coming face to face with the Gorillas, all the exhaustion you went through will come to pass as you will have an hour in their presence observing and taking photos of them. Later you will return to your lodge to rest and ponder on the memorable gorilla experience. You will visit the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera in the evening for a cultural experience. Dine and overnight rest at Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, or Kinigi Guest House, or Mountain Gorilla View Lodge

Day 9: Cultural tour and transfer back to Kigali
In the morning you will have breakfast, and then visit variouss Rwanda communities to Learn the traditional cooking of the Rwanda people in one of the local families and discover the way of life. You will as well visit the women Cooperatives making handicrafts from banana fibers and the street kid project. Later you will return to Kigali where you will have dinner and spend the night at Hotel Des Milles Collins, or Hotel Okapi, or Hotel Chezlando or at Kigali Serena Hotel

Day 10: Departure
If time allows, you will have a brief Kigali city tour to visit the Genocide memorial sites, colorful markets as well as the Local schools. later you will be transferred to the Airport for your departure flight
