Mombasa Marine National Park

The park was established in 1968 to protect marine life. It covers over 10sqkm. Together with the reserve for the same cause, that covers over 200sqkm. A total area of 210sqkm for protecting marine life and nature around it. The park is located in Mombasa district in the coastal province along Mombasa town.
It is one of the few places that conserve creatures in the sea. The park has hot and humid climate. As you prepare to tour the park rest assured to have a wonderful time seeing marine life and enjoyment of activities on water.

Detailed Itinerary

3 Days Mombasa Marine National Park

Upon your arrival, at the airport, our guide will be waiting for you. He will be able to pick you up if you’re at a hotel in Nairobi too. He will warmly welcome, brief you about your and you will immediately hit the road for a wonderful experience.

The park is located in Mombasa city in the south East of Nairobi, almost 485km. When you reach Mombasa you will embark on a tour, too visit the remarkable places. You will visit Mamba village. This village the largest crocodile farm in East Africa. On this farm you will enjoy close views of crocodiles, their way of life, how they take care if their young ones, and everything about them. You will be able to capture those moments with your camera. You will visit different sections to have an experience of everything.

You will have a moment to have lunch in Mombasa town, then you will proceed to the park. You will reach town in the afternoon and after checking in the place of accommodation which will be close to the park. You will spend the evening enjoying the facilities at your place of accommodation as you relax, to prepare for another day.

Accommodation will be at Nyali International Beach Hotel, you will await dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Enjoy nature at the park, on boat ride, guided walk safari

After your breakfast, with your packed lunch, you will head to the park to view marine life. The park has large marine life at its disposal which include: sea turtles, hunting sharks, logger heads, hawksbill, leather backs, and ridley, Fish species: such as jerry fish, lion fish, butterfly fish, star fish, zebra fish, angle fish, stone fish, jade green parrot fish, among others, Dolphins, Such as: humpbacks and spinners, Sea stars, marine algae, sea cucumbers, and octopuses, among others.
Protecting these creatures is the main aim of the park and activities like fishing aren’t allowed in the protected areas. These creatures will be seen by tourists during swimming, diving snorkeling, and even on boat rides. Look out to see more of these creatures in the park. You will enjoy this on a boat ride. You will enjoy more of this to explore the whole area. These are normally arranged after morning hours or in the evening. On these rides visitors will see marine life since the waters are clear, birds on sea shores will be seen, and also clear views of the sea

More to the marine life, you will have clear views of sea birds. The park is a home for sea birds and other migratory birds form other continents. Birds are lovers of water and the sea possesses part of their food. Along the shores of the lake you will be able to see these unique coastal birds. Guides will leads you to their nests and have amazing views with the help of binoculars. The likes of Crab plovers, roseate terns, kingfishers, eagles, among others will be visible.

The sea has unique species of coral reefs which will be amazing to see along your nature walk and on a boat ride. These lie along the shores of the lake, and deeper in the sea. These are food and shelter to the marine life. They are worth a visit. You will see how fish and other creatures feed in water, and the different beautiful reefs such as: Acropora, porites, Turbinaria, and brain, among others, will be amazing at you sight. On a boat ride, you will be able to see them. These harbor fish and at the same time are fish feeds.

You will have a moment to enjoy lunch on a boat ride, enjoying the cool environment. As you’re relaxing, you will take a guided nature walk along the see, which will reward you with beauty of birds, you will see the beautiful coral reefs gardens and also through the clear waters of the see, you will see the fragile sea turtles of different kind, and if you’re are lucky, you will see sharks, marine life.

From here, you will visit one of the beaches close to the park for some water activities and a time to relax. The park lies along the coast and close to it lies amazing white sand beaches with white water though in sight they are blue that are perfect relaxing grounds. It will not be a complete trip to Mombasa Marine Park if you miss out on spending quality time at the beach. There’s so much you can do at the beach. From sunbathing, surfing, swimming and also beautiful scenery of the blue waters, among others.

There other activities that you would like to enjoy, that aren’t part of this itinerary. You will also need to hire equipment at a supplementary fee to have a wonderful time. These include: Scuba diving, it’s normally done by experienced people although a training can be given for first timers. You will enjoy warm clear waters through which you will have amazing views of marine life. You will see different shapes and different species of the sea life which are: sea turtles, fish, and coral reefs, among others. If you can’t participate in the activity, you will enjoy seeing the experts dive.

Snorkeling is yet is another breathtaking activity. Equipment for this will be hired too. As long as you are a good swimmer, you can enjoy the activity. Participators in the activity await seeing all the fish species in the park, all sea turtle species, coral reefs, and the large marine life. A moment at the coast needs to be utilized fully.

If you enjoy surfing, take advantage and enjoy the activity. Equipment is hired at an affordable fee. However the activity can only be enjoyed in the presence of winds.

After utilizing your day, you will be returned to Nyali Beach Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Departure to Nairobi

On your last day in the park, you will exhaust your time to the fullest. After your delicious breakfast in the park, you will enjoy some of the facilities at your place of accommodation. Enjoy swimming, pool games and other sports activities at your place. In due time after lunch, your guide will just be in time to pick you and transfer you back to Nairobi, but before that, you will visit Haller Park. The Park has been famous for its flora and fauna. Access to this place can also be enjoyed as a walk safari activity. The park is located in Bamburi, near the Kenyan Coast. The place used to be a quarry, but right now its number of wildlife, birds and plant species have attracted many to share the adventure.

After your visit, you will be transferred back to Nairobi.
