Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and pick up from Arusha
Our guide will be waiting for you at Kilimanjaro Airport upon your arrival, and transfer you to your hotel as he’s briefing you about your trip. Arusha is a busy and populated town that has a lot to offer to the tourist. It’s located in the Northern part of Tanzania, close to Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
In the afternoon, you can take a safari walk if you have time, depending o what time you arrive guide will be with you to give you security or you may rest in the hotel after a long journey.
Accommodation and dinner will be at Ilboru Safari Lodge, which is located not far from Mountain Meru, hence giving the best views of the area.
Day 2: Transfer to Tarangire National Park
Following your breakfast, you will embark on a journey to Tarangire National Park. It’s located in Southwest of Arusha, it is 120km from Arusha, northern part of Tanzania. It is one of the most visited Parks in Tanzania. It’s the fifth largest park, covering 2850sqkm. Commonly referred to as a ‘Mimi’ Serengeti Park. It’s famous for its vegetation and all time water supply, swamps, acacia, woodland and baobab trees that attract a number of wildlife and birds.
From Arusha it will take less than two hours and you will embark on a game drive before and after lunch and enjoy views of dwarf mangoose, yellow barbet, and other wildlife, birds, Tarangire River, the park has large numbers of elephants and buffalos, leopards, hyenas, among others.
Accommodation will be at Marombi, which is located at the shores of Lake Manyara.
Day 3: Game drives, walk safaris in Tarangire National Park
After your delicious breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive to see more animals that you might have missed. You will return to your hotel for lunch and relax. In the afternoon you will head on to a walk Safari and cultural safari, where you will visit Masai villages, interact with them and also visit some of traditional heritage sites. Among these is Mto Wa Mbu. You will drive out of the park, and meet the humble farming community with intact cultures. You will see them cook in pots, among other things that display rich Tanzanian culture.
Accommodation will be Marombi, your guide will drive you after the visit and have your rest.
Day 4: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
After your breakfast, with your packed you will head on with your guide to Serengeti National Park with your packed lunch. The Park is located in the Serengeti ecosystem in Mara, and Simiyu regions. It’s located northwest of Tanzania, covering 14,750sqkm. The place is full of savanna, riverine forests, woodlands, grassland plains. The park has a water supply from Ikongo and Grumeti Rivers, it’s close to Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Southeast.
You will embark on a game drive where you will view of savanna grasslands with a few trees and lots of wildlife, including wildebeests and primates. It’s in this park where the great migration can be witnessed. The area was previously a home to Masai people but later they were transferred to Ngorongoro Reserve in 1959. It is the oldest park in the country. Our guide will show one of the perfect picnic spots where you will enjoy your lunch, relax and also will embark on an afternoon game drive in the park, to view wildlife and birds in the area.
Accommodation and dinner: Serengeti Sopa Lodge
Journey time: 5-6 hours to main gate
Day 5: Great migration viewing
On this day, we will focus on game viewing and most importantly the great migration, provided that you target the period. In the morning after your wonderful breakfast, with your lunch, you will head on to a morning drive, to view predators before they start hunting for lunch. Lookout for different species of birds in the park as you roam the park. In the afternoon, the guide will drive close to where the best views of great migration are. You will see wildebeest and other wildlife struggle to find their way out of the crocodile territory. Your will then return to your lodge to rest.
Day 6: Lake Manyara National Park
After your delicious breakfast, you will be taken to Lake Manyara National Park. It’s 126km in the South west of Arusha and part of the Manyara region. The park can be easily accessed by car, lies close to Tarangire National Park. The Flora and Fauna in the park has attracted so many visitors not forgetting the birds, Lake Manyara, and the tourism activities. The park covers 330sqkm and has huge numbers of lions, leopards, elephants and flamingos. You will enjoy game drives where you will have clear views of wildlife in the park, birds, and also explore the park lake. You will enjoy your lunch at the best picnic place, and then have a walk safari to explore the park, view more wildlife and birds.
Accommodation and dinner will be at Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp.
Day 7: Lake Manyara
After your breakfast, with your packed lunch you will dedicate this day to the beautiful lake which is also a paradise for birds. Close to Lake Manyara is a home to the tree climbing lions. You will have clear views of these creatures chilling or enjoying their meal. Lunch at the shores of the lake while playing with birds will be wonderful. You will enjoy a cool environment at the lake, you can walk along the shores, where you will be able to meet more wildlife.
Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater
The conservation area is a UNESCO World heritage Site, found in the crater highlands of Tanzania. Located 180km west of Arusha. The Ngorogoro crater is the world’s largest inactive volcanic caldera. The crater was due to the volcanic eruption that happened 2million years ago and is estimated to have 4500-5800m high. The conservation Area also protects the Olduvai Gorge, vast wildlife that has ever existed on earth. Over 25,000 animals, including the eland, hippos, hyenas, lions, leopards, wild beasts, gazelles, among others. It has rivers like Magadi and grasslands that wildlife feeds on.
With your packed lunch, you will head on and explore the area. You will visit the Crater Lake, which is also a paradise for flamingos, and other birds, visit Olduvai Gorge, and look out for the beautiful scenery while at the Crater Lake.
Accommodation and dinner will be at Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge which is found in the crater rim.
Day 9: Ngorongoro Rim and return to Arusha
After your breakfast, we assume your flight will be in the afternoon. Accompanied by a guide, you will walk the crater rim and explore for the last time. It won’t be tiring for you. You will love the scenic views, you will view wildlife, birds and the vegetation in the area. After this you will embark on your return journey to Manyara Airstrip, then to Arusha.
