Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye, the Minister of Science Technology and innovations, assured the public that Uganda will have solar powered buses on the road, made nowhere else but here before 2019 comes to an end. He made this assurance in January this year.
Uganda with Metu Zhoungtong Industries, has seen this dream become a reality. A fully assembled Zhong Tong bus was flagged off by the president of Uganda after he had toured the factory.
The director of the company in question, Mr. Metu Katabazi said the new product on the market will save a number of companies funds compared to what they would have spent purchasing buses from other countries.
The buses will cost at least 400m, and at least two buses were ready and more awaiting completion.
